THE UNITED VOICE OF ARIZONA'S CANNABIS INDUSTRY
The Arizona Dispensaries Association (ADA) is the political & legal voice of Arizona’s cannabis industry. Our membership is comprised of licensed dispensary owners and those who are actively engaged in business in Arizona’s medical marijuana industry. We are dedicated to advancing the Arizona cannabis industry through political advocacy, public education, and professionalization.
Our members have been actively involved in the legislative and political arena that has shaped the Arizona cannabis landscape for the the last decade as some of our founders worked to ensure the passage of Proposition 203 also known as the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act.
Soon after medical marijuana becoming legal in Arizona, many members of previous legislatures worked to circumvent the will of Arizona voters by taking steps to limit access to medical cannabis using criminalization of patients and overtaxation to prevent the marijuana industry from emerging. Individual activists, who are founders and members of the Arizona Dispensaries Association, fought tirelessly to protect the rights of patients and dispensary employees. They were successful in doing so.
The next stage of the organization's evolution began with grassroots meetings which focused on protecting and securing the rights of Arizona's medical marijuana community and form the membership of the ADA. Our members have litigated for the rights of pediatric patients against overzealous prosecutors, lobbied for legislation that mandated testing while reducing patient & employee card costs, and covered the legal costs of a persecuted patient and a victim of racial profiling in State v. Jones, the landmark 2019 case that protected cannabis extracts in Arizona.
